Europe is at a turning point. As the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034) is negotiated and the Clean Industrial Deal takes shape, the decisions made in Brussels and The Hague will determine what is possible in our region for years to come.

Strong Northern Netherlands engages on the issues where regional strength meets European ambition. We call for a Cohesion Policy that safeguards genuine regional design, management, and implementation of European funds, and for a Clean Industrial Deal that recognises regions as the place where investment, innovation, and decarbonisation actually come together.

This is not a coincidence. The Northern Netherlands has built its economy on a strong triple helix of government, knowledge institutions, and business, translating regional strengths in energy, hydrogen, and the circular economy into European impact. Place-based involvement is a recipe for success, and Europe's resilience and strategic autonomy will increasingly be shaped in regions that can apply, scale, and deliver innovation in practice.

That is why we continue to make the case, together with our European partner regions, for a Europe that listens to its regions instead of applying a single recipe for all.
